The heart of the convicted

By admin1, 17 February, 2026

This is an article written by one of our good friends on tic tok Aaron Peila. Aaron has a live podcast on tick tock that advocating for prisoners and prisoners rights while informing the public in general what's really happening behind the wall. He goes live every Saturday and Sunday morning at 9:30 am mountain standard time.

He supports his endeavor by selling some really cool merge that can be found here.

Navigating the judicial process then the prison system comes with a lot of broken dreams. Deep reflections and the understanding that you are no longer in control and that life is steady passing you by is disheartening.

Most of us are forced to compartmentalize our situation then lie to ourselves by saying it’s just prison and a part of our punishment so we suffer in silence.

We face traumas from an at times unforgiving environment which rewires our brains then we come back to society and once again face the same learning curve trying to reaclimate. Even though prison breaks us in certain ways it also builds us. We learn to find joy in the little things.

We become resilient through adversity and our gratitude becomes umatched. We learn to laugh if at times only not to cry, but that’s the heart of the convicted.

There are so many instances of laughter being heard in the mist of discomfort and that is one of the many things that sets us apart. While I could go on about the molding of men and women inside those walls I would rather speak on the facts as I see them. Prison is the blessing and the curse.

Sometimes it takes drastic measures for drastic change but always remember one thing… the most radical changes come from the biggest losses and through the prison process it can cultivate a hunger that drives one simple phrase. Anything is possible.
