A team of volunteer attorneys says they’ve uncovered hidden evidence that could overturn the conviction of Bishop Kenneth Adkins. They’re calling it a Brady violation of the highest order — that’s when prosecutors hide evidence that could help prove someone’s innocence. According to these Atlanta attorneys, former Brunswick District Attorney Jackie Johnson and a GBI agent concealed a letter written by Bishop Adkins before his 2017 trial. That letter — his resignation from the First Jordan Grove Baptist Church — was turned in to the Brunswick Police Department. But it was never given to Adkins’ defense team or to the judge. The attorneys say that letter directly contradicts the prosecution’s key witness and could have changed the outcome of the case. A spokesperson for the legal review team said, “This isn’t a technicality — it’s a constitutional crisis.” They believe that once the Georgia Supreme Court reviews the evidence, Bishop Adkins’ conviction will be overturned. This discovery comes as former DA Jackie Johnson already faced criminal charges over her handling of the Ahmaud Arbery case — adding new scrutiny to the Brunswick Judicial Circuit. Bishop Adkins’ wife, Charlotte Adkins, released a statement saying, “My husband has always stood for truth — even when it cost him everything. Now that the truth is out, we’re praying justice will finally be restored.” Faith leaders, civil rights advocates, and community members are rallying behind Bishop Adkins — calling for transparency, accountability, and a full review of his conviction.
