Every contribution helps move Prison Project forward everyone,
Something incredible is happening.
Over the past several years, Prison Project has grown far beyond anything we ever imagined.
What began as mothers, wives, sisters, brothers, children, and family members sitting in waiting rooms and visiting rooms, standing in long lines, writing letters, making phone calls, and sharing information with one another eventually grew into something much larger.
Most of us were simply trying to help the people we loved. We were trying to understand a system that often made no sense. We shared information, compared experiences, celebrated victories, mourned losses, and talked about the stories coming out from behind prison walls—both the good and the bad.
Like so many families affected by incarceration, we were looking for answers. We were looking for resources. We were looking for someone who understood what we were going through. In many cases, we became that source of support for one another.
What started as families helping families eventually attracted advocates, attorneys, former prisoners, whistleblowers, and concerned citizens who believed that information, transparency, accountability, and hope matter.
One conversation led to another.
One family helped another family.
One story led to another story.
And over time, those small efforts grew into something much bigger than any of us expected.
Today, Prison Project has become a community of advocates, families, attorneys, former prisoners, whistleblowers, and everyday citizens who believe that fairness and accountability matter.
Together, we've shared stories that otherwise would have gone unheard.
We've highlighted cases that deserved attention.
We've connected families with resources.
We've helped expose problems inside prisons and jails.
We've built relationships with attorneys, advocates, journalists, and reform-minded citizens across the country.
Most importantly, we've proven something:
People care.
People care about justice.
People care about transparency.
People care about families left behind.
People care about doing what they can to make a difference.
And we couldn't have done any of it without you.
What many people don't realize is that throughout all of this growth, Prison Project has never actively solicited donations.
In fact, we don't even currently have a donation system on our website.
That is about to change.
The reason is simple.
We have reached the point where the next stage of growth requires investment.
Prison Project is no longer just a website.
It is becoming a platform.
We have a vision for what Prison Project can become.
Imagine a family member searching for help at two o'clock in the morning and finding answers immediately.
Imagine attorneys having access to specialized resources, training materials, and referrals that help them better serve incarcerated people and their families.
Imagine advocates having their own space to organize campaigns, share information, and bring attention to cases that deserve to be seen.
Imagine families being able to create dedicated pages for their loved ones, preserving their stories and connecting with supporters from across the country.
Imagine expanded educational content, training programs, videos, podcasts, and tools designed specifically for people affected by incarceration.
Imagine a platform built by prison families that becomes the largest independent resource of its kind anywhere in the country.
That is the direction we are heading.
To get there, we need faster infrastructure, better technology, expanded resources, and the ability to continue building.
The good news is that these goals are achievable.
This isn't a multimillion-dollar project.
We don't need corporate sponsors.
We don't need government grants.
We simply need a community that believes in what we're building.
For years, we never asked for donations.
We focused on building first.
Today, we're inviting the community that helped build Prison Project to help us grow it.
Our first fundraising goal is simple:
$500 to strengthen the foundation.
This will help cover infrastructure costs, keep our educational and video tools online, and allow us to continue expanding the resources available to prison families, advocates, and attorneys.
We're not asking for large contributions.
In fact, if everyone who believes in this mission simply contributed the cost of a cup of coffee, we could accomplish an extraordinary amount.
A gift of $5 helps.
A gift of $10 helps.
A gift of $25 helps.
And for those who are able to do more, your generosity will help accelerate everything we're trying to build.
Every contribution will be reinvested directly into Prison Project.
Better technology.
Better resources.
Better tools.
Better education.
Better advocacy.
A stronger voice for the families and communities we serve.
If Prison Project has ever helped you, encouraged you, informed you, connected you with resources, shared your story, or given a voice to someone you love, we hope you'll consider helping us take the next step.
Together, we've built something special.
Together, we can build something even bigger.
Thank you for believing in this mission.
Thank you for standing with us.
And thank you for helping us build what comes next.
Sincerely,
Kathy
